Lose weight fast! I am sure you have heard this time and time again. I want to caution you about this. When you hear lose weight fast it often means gain it back fast also. You see…to lose weight fast does not necessarily mean that you will keep it off. In fact the faster you lose it the less likely it will be permanent. Not to mention that to lose weight fast can also be dangerous to your health due to nutritional deficiencies and electrolyte problems.

 

To lose weight fast you have to be on a very extreme diet, usually 800 calories a day or less. These are called very low calorie diets and they need to medically supervised for safety. The recommended safe weight loss is 1-2 pounds per week, but with these “lose weight fast” programs the weight loss may be 10 pounds in 1 week. This amount of weight loss in a week is unwise and unhealthy.

 

Everyone wants to lose weight fast, but the truth is you didn’t put on the weight “fast”. It takes time to lose the pounds that you took years to put on. The reason that everyone wants to lose weight fast is that they want a quick fix; they want to look good for some event and then little thought is given to the fact that you may gain it back. Also, bear in mind that a lot of these “lose weight fast” schemes rely on your quick weight loss in the first few weeks by revving up your metabolism, but ignoring the rebound effect when your body decides that it is in starvation and tries to recover. Everybody is always looking for the latest weight loss tips. Just surfing the web on Yahoo or Google and you will find a daily assortment of weight loss tips. This is because people are always looking for the quick fix. We want an easy answer. We are always looking for the next weight loss tips that will offer us the cure! This is how we can become addicted to self-help as my friend and author Kristen Moeller has written in her book “Waiting for Jack, Confessions of a Self-Help Junkie”.

 

If you use weight loss tips wisely, you can learn a lot from them. Find out where your weight loss tips are coming from. Is it a credible source? If it is coming from a credible source, then add this tip to the collection of weight loss tips that apply to you and fit your life. An important drawback with weight loss at home is in exercising. You may buy all types of exercise tapes or DVDs. You may even try to keep up with an exercise channel on a daily basis, but the motivation isn’t always going to be there. It is best to get out of the house and go to a gym where you will be more likely to do something. Better than weight loss at home, go outside and walk or ride the bike. You are more likely to do this than put a DVD in your player every day and try weight loss at home all by yourself. However, if you don’t have the time then exercising at home is better than not at all.

This is why medically supervised weight loss programs or weigh-in programs such as Weight Watchers are more successful. These programs are designed to help make you accountable for your actions, which weight loss at home, won’t do.

One option for weight loss at home is the Wii for fitness. A lot of my patients use this and they like it because it is a fun way to achieve your weight loss at home. FUN is the key word. The Wii makes it interactive, which is why I think it has an advantage over other methods for weight loss at home. The nice thing about the Wii fitness is that kids like it too so you can do it as a family and share some time with your kids.

Trying to achieve weight loss at home is at times difficult. The problem is often that you do not have a structured environment set up that you can follow. The home is a place of comfort for most people and the last thing that you think of is to work at weight loss at home.

Many people buy exercise equipment to in an attempt to achieve weight loss at home, only to find that the treadmill will be used for hanging things and gathering cobwebs. We get so excited to start our weight loss at home and we buy all sorts of clothes and devices, but we don’t commit to the long term. This is because we are at the bargaining stage of our weight loss at home. We are looking for the quick fix or the miracle cure.

Now don’t get me wrong, enthusiasm is ok but commitment is essential. To commit to a weight loss at home you will need to discipline yourself. Weight loss at home will allow you ample choices to cheat on your weight loss plan since there is little or no accountability to anyone, except yourself. This weight loss at home may be ideal for a subpopulation of people trying to lose weight, but for the vast majority of people struggling with weight loss some accountability other than to your own is very helpful.

Ask yourself, do I really want to lose weight to increase energy & live longer? Yes! First, you have to take care of yourself in order to be there for the others. What will happen if you die because of your obesity? By losing weight to improve your overall health, you’ll have more energy time to care for your loved ones. You’ll gain endurance and enjoy activities more. The world opens up when you feel good about yourself.

By answering the question, “Do I really want to lose weight,” you are choosing a transition. It’s not a diet. It’s a transition to living and feeling better. If you commit to making physical activity and healthier eating a key part of your lifestyle, you must be creative in working it into everyday life. For example, my wife and I have committed to being active when the kids are active. When my son signed up for martial arts, I signed up for the adult class two doors down from him. I’ve also learned moderation and portion control so that I avoid overeating.

I can’t stress enough how important it is to focus on the long term and not on some fad diet for temporary success. You’re missing the point if you just say, “I really want to lose weight to fit in my skinny jeans,” or “I really want to lose weight to reach my goal weight.” Those are milestones. We should celebrate when we accomplish milestones, but this is not the goal of weight loss. The goal of weight loss is to keep the excess weight off for life!

Remember, the only way to fail is to do nothing at all. So when you ask yourself “Do I Really Want To Lose Weight?”, say yes!

Many struggle to answer the question, “Do I really want to lose weight.” Obesity may be alright cosmetically, but medically it is not. Obesity often brings diabetes, metabolic syndrome, high blood pressure, sleep apnea and other problems as well.

Many of these conditions, however, can either improve or resolve if you say yes to “Do I really want to lose weight.” If you accept obesity, you are simply ignoring many serious health issues that will ultimately catch up to you. For example, Type II Diabetes is notoriously associated with being overweight. What will happen to them if you die of heart disease, diabetes, or even cancer because of your obesity? By losing the weight and improving your health, you’ll have significantly more energy and more time to care for your loved ones. You’ll also gain more endurance and excitement for enjoying activities with them. The world opens up when you feel good about yourself.

Black beans as well as other beans are in the family of legumes, which have the distinct advantage of counting as a protein serving as well as a vegetable serving. So you get twice the benefit with these legumes when you are food combining for weight loss.
