The Best Ways To Lose Weight

The Best Ways To Lose Weight

Dr. A On The Best Ways To Lose Weight

Everyone wants to know the best way to lose weight. This a common question that is often asked. The truth is that there is no best way to lose weight. There are safe and unsafe ways of losing weight and this is important to keep in mind because you want to “first do yourself no harm”.

If you feel the best way to lose weight is to go on a severely restrictive diet such as a 500 calorie a day diet, then you may find that although you lose the weigh quickly, you will likely gain it back just as quick. This is because the body eventually feels itself to be in starvation and reacts by triggering several responses in the body to counteract this. This is why these severely restricted diets require some form of appetite suppressant so as to counteract your body’s normal response, which is hunger.

Many TV shows and advertisements suggest their methods are the best way to lose weight. Don’t be fooled by the quick fix. The best way to lose weight is to keep it off for good. Read the fine print since most of those programs will offer a miracle treatment, but then recommend regular diet and exercise in the fine print. Therefore the best way to lose weight is really the is not really what they are offering.

So What Is The Best Way To Lose Weight?

Ultimately, the best way to lose weight is to find out what are the real triggers that cause your cravings. Going after these triggers and doing something about them will essentially allow you to keep the weight off long term. That is not to say that you do not need to control your overeating, but if you find other avenues for your stress and lessen your triggers, the cravings will decrease and your diet or surgery will work. This is why the best way to lose weight is to lose the desire to overeat!

Quick Doesn’t Mean Good

Lose Weight Fast?

It’s Dangerous To Lose Weight Too Fast

It’s Dangerous To Lose Weight Too Fast By Dr. A

Lose weight fast! I am sure you have heard this time and time again. I want to caution you about this. When you hear lose weight fast it often means gain it back fast also. You see…to lose weight fast does not necessarily mean that you will keep it off. In fact the faster you lose it the less likely it will be permanent. Not to mention that to lose weight fast can also be dangerous to your health due to nutritional deficiencies and electrolyte problems.

To lose weight fast you have to be on a very extreme diet, usually 800 calories a day or less. These are called very low calorie diets and they need to medically supervised for safety. The recommended safe weight loss is 1-2 pounds per week, but with these “lose weight fast” programs the weight loss may be 10 pounds in 1 week. This amount of weight loss in a week is unwise and unhealthy.

Everyone wants to lose weight fast, but the truth is you didn’t put on the weight “fast”. It takes time to lose the pounds that you took years to put on. The reason that everyone wants to lose weight fast is that they want a quick fix; they want to look good for some event and then little thought is given to the fact that you may gain it back. Also, bear in mind that a lot of these “lose weight fast” schemes rely on your quick weight loss in the first few weeks by revving up your metabolism, but ignoring the rebound effect when your body decides that it is in starvation and tries to recover. Your lose weight fast diet then becomes history.

Dr. A On Management

Weight Loss And Loss Management

Weight Loss And Loss Management With Dr. A

Weight Loss And Loss Management With Dr. A, Weight Loss Expert

Let’s talk about weight loss and loss management; two terms that are as diametrically opposed as you can get. Don’t’ believe me? Think about this: how we lose weight can vary. Most diets or surgery can help you lose the weight, however, keeping it off is another issue. We tend to think of both weight loss and loss management as one and the same. Loss management means that we keep the weight off after we lose it.

It is a common mistake to think of weight loss and loss management as being equal, but even the methods we employ to accomplish each is different. Once you have lost the weight, loss management is more dependent on regular exercise and maintaining a higher level of activity. Of course exercise is important for weight loss and loss management but it is far more critical in loss management to keep the weight off. Once you have hit a weight loss plateau, exercise will burn off those excess calories that you may take in daily.

Breaking the Cycle of Obesity is key when you are trying to achieve weight loss and loss management. But the way you approach the Cycle is different depending on whether you are trying to achieve weight loss or weight management. In weigh loss, you have to identify the triggers that make you eat and manage or resolve them. In weight loss management, you have to remember what those triggers were and avoid them so that you do not fall back in to the Cycle of Obesity and gain the weight back.

If you commit to making physical activity and healthier eating a key part of your lifestyle, you must be creative in working it into everyday life. For example, my wife and I have committed to being active when the kids are active. When my son signed up for martial arts, I signed up for the adult class two doors down from him. I’ve also learned moderation and portion control so that I avoid overeating.

I can’t stress enough how important it is to focus on the long term and not on some fad diet for temporary success. You’re missing the point if you just say, “I really want to lose weight to fit in my skinny jeans,” or “I really want to lose weight to reach my goal weight.” Those are milestones. We should celebrate when we accomplish milestones, but this is not the goal of weight loss. The goal of weight loss is to keep the excess weight off for life!

Remember, the only way to fail is to do nothing at all. So when you ask yourself “Do I Really Want To Lose Weight?”, say yes!
